Wes Kiplinger Director of Delivery - London
Wes is an experienced leader and manager of eDiscovery teams that work on behalf of a variety of clients including banks, governmental entities, hospitals and several Fortune 500 companies. He has managed projects for Special Counsel both in his role as project manager and director of delivery, spanning a wide variety of fields, such as banking/ securities, international trade, health care, patents, medical devices, and regulatory investigations. He collaborates with clients from the initial stages of a review through production, using advanced problem solving skills and a multitude of training techniques to ensure that he and his team deliver superior results. Prior to joining Special Counsel, Wes was In-house counsel for a Minnesota-based construction company. Wes received his Juris Doctor from the University of St. Thomas School of Law, graduating cum laude, a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Student Personnel from Minnesota State University, Mankato and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Drake University. Wes is a member in good standing of the Minnesota Bar.
Wes recently completed managing three iterations of a project involving intense copyright infringement litigation between a start-up company and several large communications powerhouses that ultimately received certiorari from the United States Supreme Court. The final review involved 35,000 documents requiring a substantive review, privilege review, redactions and extensive privilege log analysis. Wes worked closely with the supervising associate to focus the rather broad request for production into a manageable and detailed analysis of the documents. Through this process, Wes and his team were able to quickly determine that thousands of the documents were not, in fact, responsive to the request. This allowed the firm to remove the documents from the review set and lower the cost of the review significantly. The collaborative nature of the review process and ultimate cost savings to the end client has resulted in several other managed reviews with the representative law firm.
