In this role, you will support this busy office by managing their front desk responsibilities and providing legal assistance to attorneys and paralegals by helping with drafting, document management, and e-filing in state and federal courts. Compensation for this direct-hire opportunity is highly competitive in the Portland market and is contingent on your previous experience. Legal Assistant (Litigation) Responsibilities:

  • Producing information by formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, copying, and transmitting text, data, and graphics.
  • Redlining and formatting large documents.
  • Drafting letters and documents; collecting and analyzing information.
  • Proficiently filing legal documents with various federal, state, and appellate courts and agencies (both electronic and manually).
  • Maintaining documents and files in securely-managed document management system.
  • Trial preparation and support.
  • Answering routine questions from clients and staff members and/or routing calls to appropriate staff members.
  • Maintain attorney calendars.


  • At least a year of recent experience at a busy law firm.
  • High school degree, required. Bachelor degree in related field, preferred.
  • Strong command of the English language, including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, form and style, the ability to compose correspondence and proofread, and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Exceptional people skills and a positive attitude.
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills.
  • Superior computer and MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Knowledge and familiarity of federal and state court procedures, application of local rules, and docketing.
  • Ability to follow complex instructions and collect and analyze information.
