Special Counsel is currently recruiting for a temp-to-hire legal assistant to support the Administrative & Labor Law Section of an in-house legal department.  The office is located in Downtown Cleveland.  
 
Responsibilities:

  • Process public records requests
  • Assist attorneys with labor arbitrations, unemployment hearings and matters that come before the State Employment Relations Board (SERB).
  • Docket dates of all hearings and responses to be filed with any administrative agency, type appropriate responses as may be required.
  • Processes subpoenas for records
  • Maintain logs, file responses, and schedule arbitration dates.
  • Prepare correspondence, briefs, memos, weekly reports, and responses to administrative agencies. Perform general filing duties and all administrative and secretarial duties as assigned.

 
Qualifications:

  • At least 3+ years as a legal secretary, including experience in workers’ compensation and labor and employment matters
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Power Point and superior technical skills in general
  • Strong typing skills, must type at least 70 WPM
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) is necessary
  • Teamwork
