Downtown law firm is seeking a full-time litigation legal secretary to support its insurance defense practice group.  Major duties include providing comprehensive and efficient administrative and secretarial support, calendaring, composition of correspondence, pleadings and briefs, file management organization and other administrative assistance as may be required from time-to-time.
 
Responsibilities
• Maintain the calendar of activities of attorneys, including court dates, depositions, meeting and other appointments
• Compose and edit correspondence, reports and pleadings
• Proofread to ensure correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, format and content in prepared materials
• Communicate with courts, clients and other attorneys
• Open and maintain files
• Operate various office equipment, including computer, copier and fax machine
• Track general litigation cases and provide case  management assistance
 
Qualifications
• At least 5+ years as a legal secretary, including experience in insurance defense litigation
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Power Point and superior technical skills in general
• Strong typing skills and use of digital dictation equipment
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
• High level of discretion and confidentiality
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) is necessary
• Teamwork
