Welcome to the fourth quarter issue of The Column. I hope you are having a wonderful fall and are enjoying the tremendous weather the season has brought.

A Bay Area native who attended the University of California, Berkeley, Shunte is a Placement Director for the San Jose and San Francisco offices of Special Counsel. In her piece, Shunte, a seasoned recruiter, discusses the welcome resurgence of client direct hires. Also in this issue, we have a comprehensive breakdown of steps you can and should be taking to reduce your unemployment taxes, penned by Elizabeth Parks-Landry, a veteran of Special Counsel for more than 14 years. Elizabeth is the Executive Director in New Orleans, and shares crucial input from a Department of Labor source as well as her own extensive experience in legal staffing.
