It doesn’t seem like that long ago that I decided to go to law school. I had a plan. In only a few short years, I would be living out my dream as a practicing attorney. Fast forward about five years and a pile of student loans later. Technically, I was doing what I set out to do. But if I was honest with myself, I wasn’t happy doing it. My “dream” turned out to be a bit of a letdown.

Naturally, I panicked. My career expectations; my parents’ expectations for me; and those loans – I didn’t amass ALL of that debt to walk away from practicing law! As much as I tried to force those thoughts of discontent from my mind, they kept creeping back into focus. That is until a member of Parker + Lynch Legal reached out to me with an opportunity that instantly intrigued me and has ended up being the best professional decision I have ever made for myself.

Putting Your J.D. to Use

The first question my family and friends asked when I told them I decided to leave the practice of law and pursue a career as a legal recruiter was, “Do you have to be a lawyer to do that?”. While technically the answer is no, one of the great things about Parker + Lynch Legal is that all of our attorney recruiters are licensed attorneys themselves. Not only does this give us the ability to relate to the candidates we’re helping, but it also gives us the legal and market knowledge necessary to achieve quick success in this role.


As a practicing attorney, I always felt like I was operating under someone else’s plan. One of my favorite things about this role is that entrepreneurial spirit isn’t just appreciated, it’s strongly encouraged! Every day, the best recruiters in the business are pushing themselves to take the initiative to try a new recruiting strategy, act quickly on new opportunities and find innovative solutions to roadblocks that come their way. Every day is a little different – and sometimes even a little challenging – but also very exciting and never boring!

Team Environment

While it is true that entrepreneurship is encouraged, that doesn’t mean you’re on your own. I really feel like a part of a team at Parker + Lynch Legal. Across all offices one thing is true: we work together as one team. This means sharing leads, job orders, ideas and best practices. The goal is to be successful as a unit, as well as individually. I think I speak for all of our veteran recruiters when I say that as my team has grown, so has my business!

Fantastic Training and Support System

When you join the Parker + Lynch Legal team, one thing I can guarantee is that the leadership of this company will do everything in their power to help you succeed – and succeed quickly! This starts with a week of in-person training designed to teach our new recruiters the best practices for early success in your new role. But the support doesn’t stop once you leave. Once back in your local office, the on-the-ground leadership team is there to answer your questions, help to hone your newly acquired recruiting skills and ultimately to help you make money!

Financial Incentive

Speaking of money, the potential to be financially successful is HUGE at Parker + Lynch Legal. While the move to a commission-based position can be frightening, if you put in the hard work, follow the advice and training of the leadership team, and mix in a little of that entrepreneurial spirit, you can be hugely successful in the role of an attorney recruiter.
