Special Counsel on the Board of Women in e-Discovery Chapters Miami, Houston and Dallas.

Jacksonville, FL (December 3, 2019) – Women in eDiscovery (WiE) incorporates a broad network of women volunteers who uplift and support each other and work together to recognize and honor one other’s achievements. WiE is comprised of professionals within the legal industry, including attorneys, litigation support professionals, paralegals, legal IT staff, court reporters, consultants, recruiters and vendors.

Katie Curiel, Regional VP Senior eDiscovery Counsel for Special Counsel, has been named the Chapter Director in Miami. Shauna Capi, Director of Strategic Solutions for Special Counsel, has been named the Membership Director on the Board of Directors in Miami. 

“I personally want to lead the charge on establishing a strong WiE chapter in Miami to stand alongside the wonderful chapters of New York, Chicago, Atlanta, DC, Houston and various others. Getting together to give back to our communities, set examples for young professionals, be a resource for our peers and trail blaze into the future.” Katie Curiel.
The Miami chapter joins over 30+ similar groups in Washington DC, Boston, Seattle, Toronto, San Francisco, New York, Houston Dallas and Chicago. The chapter provides its members with national WiE resources and opportunities on a local level.

The e-discovery association provides educational opportunities regarding technology in the legal industry to its members. The organization offers networking and leadership avenues, promotes the personal and professional growth of women in legal, and donates mentoring and charitable contributions to its communities.

“The vision for WiE Miami is to fill a void by building a strong community of female leaders from various backgrounds and disciplines, including attorneys, paralegals, compliance and IT that can collaborate and learn from each other.” Katie Curiel.
Within Special Counsel are two other women who were recently elected to WiE positions. Janet Huseth, Director of Strategic Solutions, was selected to serve the Dallas Chapter as the Meetings director. Laura Ann Day, Solutions eDiscovery Consultant, was selected to serve the Houston chapter as the Assistant Chapter Director.
