Bankruptcy Legal Assistant

Bankruptcy legal assistant job  courtesy of Special Counsel! Our client is seeking an experienced legal assistant for a temporary position. This position has the possibility of converting into a permanent role if it is a good fit. The ideal candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills; be highly organized, and ability to handle a large caseload.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drafting legal documents and correspondence under attorney direction. This includes, but not limited to, discovery, pleadings, motions, letter, and notices
  • Knowledge of bankruptcy procedures
  • Request documents from client and follow up as necessary
  • Monitor files and escalate to attorneys as needed
  • Assist with scheduling arrangements regarding depositions, mediations, and any other proceedings that may be required
  • Collaboratively work with clients, creditors, debtors, court clerks, and other employees
  • Handle sensitive issues and materials relative to a case in a timely manner
  • Maintain Calendars for trial and discovery deadlines
  • Coordinate and assist with trial preparation
  • Conduct legal research.
  • Filing documents with state and federal courts as required for bankruptcy process
  • Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience with chapter 11 bankruptcy law firm required
  • Litigation experience preferred
  • FL State and Federal Court filing including E-Filing experience required
  • Familiarity with bankruptcy filings within multiple districts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work as a team with attorneys and other colleagues
  • Demonstrate a courteous and professional demeanor
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
