Are you an experienced legal assistant or junior paralegal who is looking for new opportunities? Special Counsel is seeking qualified candidates for a Commercial Litigation Legal Assistant position in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This is an on-site, full-time role at the firm’s downtown Fort Lauderdale office.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of complex commercial litigation (class action defense, commercial disputes, complex real estate and land use litigation, etc.) and trial experience in a law firm, required
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience, preferred
  • E-discovery experience, specifically with Relativity or Summation, preferred but not required
  • Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with or without direct supervision
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to locate specific items on the internet
  • Working knowledge of FileSite or I-Manage
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Flexibility for unscheduled overtime as needed
  • Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and finalize pleadings in accordance with applicable State and Federal rules for filing with court
  • Manage attorney’s calendar to include all meetings and deadlines
  • Assist with document retrieval, review, organization, and production
  • Maintain case pleadings, correspondence, discovery, and research for large volume cases
  • Cite-check and edit/revise legal documents
  • Maintain and use document, transcript, and work product databases
  • Organize and prepare exhibit lists and/or privilege logs
  • Coordinate work with outside document/litigation vendors, including adherence to strict deadlines
  • Coordinate and assist with trial preparations, i.e., exhibits, witness binders, and demonstrative
  • Assist with trial site preparation and attend trials
