Immigration Paralegal

Special Counsel has teamed up with a top law firm in Dallas, looking to fill an immigration paralegal position. This is a Direct Hire opportunity. The firm is looking for an individual that can support attorneys with immigration and litigation matters. This position will work with attorneys and other staff members to provide strong clerical and administrative assistance. Duties require excellent typing, organization, teamwork and communication skills in order to provide outstanding legal support services to the firm’s attorneys, staff and clients.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ability to properly balance workload between multiple assigned attorneys
  • Willingness to abide by the confidentiality requirements of providing legal services
  • Prepare legal correspondence, reports and presentations
  • Assist with outgoing communication: formatting, proofing, finalizing
  • Organize and maintain case files and other filings – both hardcopy and electronic
  • Electronically file documents in the court systems
  • Schedule appointments and meeting rooms, provide or assist in cleanup after meetings
  • Commitment to meeting deadlines; timely communicate status of projects and work performed
  • Submit expense reimbursements on behalf of assigned attorneys
  • Enter attorney billing time entries
  • Coordinate with accounting department on billing and related administrative matters
  • Assist with making work-related travel and overnight accommodation arrangements
  • Assist with incoming telephone calls, and with greeting clients and other visitors
  • Be a team player with other staff members to help ensure that deadlines are met and that the firm’s clients receive excellent legal services

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ of experience as an Immigration Paralegal, Immigration Legal Assistant, or secretary working in a law firm is preferred
  • Knows and follows the formal and informal policies, procedures and practices necessary to properly conduct the typical functions of a legal assistant in a law firm primarily engaged in immigration
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience in time-keeping, calendaring and document management systems is also helpful
