In-House Intellectual Property Paralegal (New Jersey)

 

This position requires a paralegal who is familiar with intellectual property law and management, particularly US and foreign patent prosecution and patent management systems. The position will support the IP team, assisting with patent database management for a substantial global portfolio.

Essential Responsibilities 

  • Review correspondence received from government agencies and outside counsel to determine the content/data entry requirements, and entering the associated content/data in patent database
  • Docketing of all patent related matters
  • Scanning and uploading of patent related documents and correspondence to patent database
  • Maintaining quality and integrity of data in patent database
  • Conduct on-line database and internet research for patent data
  • Prepare instructions to file patent applications, both domestically and internationally
  • Assist with the review and management of annuity payments for international and domestic patents
  • Assist with management of and instructions relating to trademark searches, registrations, oppositions and consent agreements
  • Qualifications/Requirements 

  • Associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of five years active practice, in the intellectual property field, including experience in docketing on patent databases, experience with Memotech preferred
  • Strong knowledge of laws, regulations and procedures relating to procurement and maintenance of patents in the US and worldwide.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office
  • Experience in working independently and managing concurrent projects
  • General understanding of trademark processes and procedures
  • Notary 
  • Must be willing to work overtime when needed
