Labor & Employment Paralegal


Special Counsel is actively seeking an experienced Labor & Employment Paralegal for a corporate client located in Charlotte, North Carolina.


This position will provide legal and administrative support to the Head of Legal Affairs.

This professional will assist will all pre-litigated and litigated matters as well as support the Labor & Employment compliance efforts nationwide.

The model candidate will be a self-starter, detail-oriented, organized and be committed to assisting meet the departments compliance requirements.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist Counsel with a number of employment law matters including, but not limited to; recruitment and hiring; compensation and benefits; employee relations; wage and hour matters; leaves of absence and accommodations; ADA matters; workplace safety; discrimination and harassment; government audits; compliance; internal investigations; as well as discipline and termination of employment.

    Skill Requirements:


  • Must possess extensive knowledge of federal, state and municipal labor and employment laws/regulations, with proven working knowledge of discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, and compliance, including familiarity with applicable Agencies.
  • Experience drafting employment policies and Statements of Position along with strong knowledge or Human Resources terminology and principles.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and ability to thrive in a fast-paced high output environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint.

    Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies/Education from an ABA approved program or a Bachelor’s degree with Paralegal Studies Certificate form an ABA approved program or significant paralegal experience.

    Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6-8 years of paralegal experience, specifically in labor and employment law.
  • Experience working in-house legal department and/or large law firm.
