Special Counsel is currently recruiting self-motivated paralegal candidate with 5+ years of experience who is detailed-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks across a number of case related matters. A qualified candidate will have solid experience with all phases of discovery, trial preparation, familiarity with litigation databases, summarizing medical records, solid communication and time management skills, and the ability to proofread and cite check legal briefs. A flexible demeanor and ability to work independently or with a team is crucial. Insurance Defense experience is a plus. Job duties include but are not limited to:
Assist with litigation matters from pre-complaint to trial and appeals in state and federal court.
Research and maintain knowledge of current laws, statutes, and local rules to ensure the firm is compliant.
Heavily interact with clients and opposing counsel.
Revise or redline pleadings, briefs, and agreements.
Draft routine motions and affidavits.
Review requests for documents, prepare organized productions with document catalogues, and draft well-formulated responses.
Assist with trial preparation by drafting witness and exhibits lists, assembling exhibits, and preparing trial notebooks.
