Special Counsel is currently seeking a Litigation Paralegal with 7 or more years of experience for a full-time job at a well-established law firm in West Los Angeles. This role requires an experienced litigation paralegal to specialize in white collar criminal defense and civil litigation. Skills and knowledge of carrying out criminal cases through all aspects of litigation lifecycle is a must!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to draft pleadings, discovery, and correspondence to prop up cases from establishment to closure. This will be able to be done in compliance with standards, applicable rules and requirements.
  • Teamwork ability with a case team that can stand together in key case themes to deliver support in analyzing and drafting discovery requests and responses as well as continual updates to case team and manager.
  • Should be able to file documents in state, federal, administrative and arbitral jurisdictions using e-filing service portals, as well as Federal Electronic Case Filing web applications and Case Anywhere. Should be familiar with similar software and applications.
  • Ability to congregate, format, and coordinate service of document productions.
  • Research procedural codes, court rules and consistently reference resources regarding application.

    Qualifications:

  • Apparent work experience as a litigation paralegal who will be a strong resource to the team.
  • Has been to trial a minimum of 1 time.
  • Criminal experience is a plus.
  •  

    Skills:

  • Expert at Microsoft Office suite, acrobat, Westlaw and/or research platforms.
  • Excellent multitasking and time management skills with the ability to accomplish large projects in a speedy manner.
  • Advanced organizational skills, tracking and entering data.
  • Independent worker while simultaneously possessing the ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
  • Skilled at cite and fact-checking procedures and familiar with Bluebook standards.
  •  

    Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of substantive civil and criminal litigation experience in California and federal trial. Civil court experience can be greater than criminal court experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in appellate courts as a paralegal in a law firm setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • California Paralegal certificate preferred.

    Compensation:

  • $95,000 - $105,000 depending on experience.
  • Eligible for overtime pay and bonus opportunities.
  • Paid time off – 3 weeks per year.
