Paralegal

Special Counsel is currently recruiting a Temporary Paralegal for a 12 month assignment at a company in Peoria, IL.  The Paralegal will assist attorneys with purchasing contracts.  The paralegal will work with several attorneys supporting the Indirect Procurement team and a broad scope of purchasing activities for business clients and will involve significant contact with procurement buyers, subject matter experts, and outside legal resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing matter intake and assessment and issue identification,
  • Assisting attorneys with client counseling, managing, drafting, and negotiating purchasing contracts,
  • Assisting with matter and document management,
  • Working directly with the procurement team, internal clients, subject matter experts, and external legal resources with respect to procurement agreements and issue resolution.
  • Qualifications:

  • 4 year degree in paralegal studies; or 4 year degree with a 2 year degree in paralegal studies or a paralegal certificate,
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word and other MS Office applications
  • Strong analytical skills to understand basic to intermediate contracts
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team or individually, as the circumstances require
  • Exceptional client service skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to be responsive to the needs of clients and colleagues
  • Attention to detail
