Paralegal

Special Counsel's client in downtown Pittsburgh currently working 100% in the office is looking for a legal assistant.  This position is a blend of a secretary and a paralegal.  The position would assist the civil litigators.  If you have prior defense litigation experience that is a huge PLUS.  If you know Prolaw another big PLUS.  Please send your resume to Pittsburgh@SpecialCounsel.com 

Litigation Legal Assistant will support the everyday operations for a busy general civil litigation team (two partners and two associates) in a fast-paced, high-volume office. Will include:

Job Description:

  • Drafting and filing pleadings, motions and other documents with state and federal courts; assisting with all areas of discovery, including written requests and document production; distributing and placing attorney mail in the corresponding electronic file; and assist with trial preparation
  • Open new matters; file organization; correspondences to courts, clients and others as per attorney instructions; transcribing electronic dictation.
  • Skills needed:

  • At least one or more years of litigation experience
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience with ProLaw is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of court process, and rules of civil procedure in western Pennsylvania.
  • Detail oriented with strong proofreading and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritizing work and understand when to bring issues, concerns, or discrepancies to the attention of the supervising lawyer.
  • Excellent oral and written communication with internal and external parties. Works well with attorneys, professionals, clients and staff. Efficient multi-tasker. Manages competing demands to meet deadlines
