Paralegal (Tax and Estate Planning)

Special Counsel has an exciting opportunity to team up with one of San Francisco’s best AmLaw 100 firms to find a talented Estate and Tax Paralegal to join their growing team. You are an ideal candidate if you have over five years of experience handling large estates, post estates, and 706 tax preparations. As the Paralegal, you will be supporting a busy estate team with making sure estate, gift, and fiduciary tax returns are reviewed, accurate, complete, and done in a timely fashion.   • Estate and Tax Paralegal Job Responsibilities:

  • Client management and liaison with estate attorneys
  • Analyze estate planning documents including wills, codicils and trust instruments
  • Prepare and review gift tax returns, especially related to the formation of insurance trusts, marital trusts, charitable lead and charitable remainder trusts
  • Preparation of fiduciary accounting
  • Engage in special projects related to client matters involving tax accounting, consulting and research
  • Assist clients with other accounting related matters
  • Keep abreast of tax changes and issues that could affect our clients
  • Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of Estate and Tax Paralegal experience, preferably in a large firm setting
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a high volume of emails, calls, documents, and tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong command of the English language, including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, form and style, the ability to compose correspondence and proofread, and a high level of attention to detail
  • Organizational skills to work independently and meet deadlines in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions
  • Strong communication skills to interact with all levels of internal staff, attorneys, management and external clients of the firm
  • Time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
  • Attention to detail and very strong organizational skills
  • Strong customer service and people skills
  • Collaborative and team oriented
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook skills
