Real Estate Paralegal

Special Counsel is recruiting a Real Estate Paralegal for the Cleveland Office of an international law firm.  The Real Estate Paralegal will work with a team of attorneys in the firm’s expanding Tax Credit & Economic Development Incentives and Debt Finance practice groups on a diverse range of real estate development and financing transactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and reviewing basic closing documents, including conveyance documents, collateral documents, resolutions, certificates, and other closing deliverables.
  • Facilitating and conducting basic real estate diligence (e.g., title, survey, construction and environmental) and document review and preparation.
  • Generally managing and coordinating due diligence and closing processes in conjunction with attorney team, including maintaining closing checklists and coordinating document signings and compilation of closing documents and other closing logistics.
  • Conducting and coordinating title and survey due diligence, and review/resolution of title and survey issues.
  • Qualifications

  • Ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours (i.e., late nights and weekends) in connection with closings on an as-needed basis.
  • Strong familiarity with technology (e.g., Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • A Bachelor’s degree in addition to a Paralegal certificate is preferred. Experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, in conjunction with a two-year Paralegal degree/certification may be considered.
  • Candidate should have at least one year of experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or title company.
  • Basic understanding of real estate acquisition and financing transactions and documentation strongly preferred.
