Trademark Paralegal

As the Trademark Paralegal, you will provide legal support to the attorneys, work with clients in furtherance of their trademark filing and maintenance needs and manage a database of domestic and international trademark records.


  • Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned matters or projects.
  • Responsible for all aspects of US application, prosecution, maintenance, TTAB proceedings and related docketing.
  • Coordinate and manage U.S. and foreign trademark filings/portfolios.
  • Manage US and foreign trademark dockets using the firm’s ProLaw docketing database
  • Communicate with attorneys, as well as clients, and foreign agents regarding preparing and processing all paperwork necessary during pendency of trademark applications, including formalizing original documents.
  • Prepare reports for clients regarding pending trademark applications and registered trademarks; oversee accuracy and necessary follow-up on daily docket entries; maintain portfolios with supervising attorneys.
  • Communicate with foreign associates and clients on initial filing requests and other correspondence during the prosecution of foreign applications.
  • Prepare and file trademark applications and issue foreign filing instructions.
  • Assist with and perform intellectual property searches, including initial screening searches, relating to due diligence projects.
  • Prepare and record documents affecting the chain of title for U.S. and International trademarks.
  • Prepare non-substantive Office action responses and related correspondence for attorney review.
  • Assist with U.S. and foreign contentious proceedings, including opposition and cancellation proceedings.
  • Review electronic docket daily.
  • Perform status checks.
  • Review incoming transfer cases for accuracy and prepare necessary power of attorney documents.
  • Review and maintain renewal and maintenance dockets for clients.
  • Prepare files for outgoing transfers.
  • Develop and maintain records regarding billable hours spent on specific matters.
  • Assist with other non-prosecution trademark projects from time to time.
  • Be willing and able to learn and work in additional areas within the firm.
  • Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal working with trademarks.
  • Experience using the USPTO database (United States Patent & Trademark Office).
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • Excellent writing/written communication skills.
  • Experience with ProLaw; USPTO website and forms; online investigation and research programs and tools; online trademark and domain name clearance searching.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred.
